Almendra Studio was appointed as the main building contractor for the construction of a new 389m² detached family residence located in Hersham, Walton-on-Thames KT12, within the prestigious Burwood Park Estate.

The property occupies a particularly desirable position at the head of a private cul-de-sac, forming part of the original Burwood Park estate layout. Surrounded by established residential landscaping, the site provides a quiet and private setting while remaining within easy reach of central London.

Designed as a contemporary family residence, the house was conceived to provide generous open-plan living spaces, strong connections with the surrounding garden and a carefully organised arrangement of private family accommodation.

The project was developed in collaboration with London-based architecture and interior design studio RB.Twelve. Founders Rafa and Dean led the architectural concept, internal spatial planning and interior design, shaping the character and atmosphere of the residence. Their design approach established the spatial framework and material language of the project, while Almendra Studio delivered the construction and technical execution of the scheme.

Architectural Layout and Open-Plan Living

A key objective of the project was the creation of a generous open-plan ground floor layout suited to contemporary family living. The principal living areas were organised around a spacious kitchen-dining and living environment designed to maximise natural light and spatial flow.

The internal layout establishes strong visual connections between the living spaces and the surrounding garden while improving circulation throughout the house. Large glazed openings maximise daylight across the principal living areas and reinforce the relationship between the interior architecture and the landscape beyond.

 

Bespoke Kitchen-Diner and Everyday Family Living

At the centre of the house sits a large kitchen-dining space designed as the social heart of the home. Bespoke cabinetry, integrated appliances and generous preparation surfaces create a refined yet practical environment suited to both everyday family life and informal entertaining.
A centred kitchen island establishes a natural focal point within the room while maintaining clear circulation between cooking, dining and living areas.

Large glazed openings allow the internal living spaces to flow naturally towards the garden, strengthening the connection between the architecture and the surrounding landscape.
